Yes, you should wear a condom or check your partner out. If your partner has a cold sore on her mouth she could potentially give you herpes. Even if there is no outbreak, you can still get it. Ask her if she has any mouth sores or has had it before. My advice would be take some extra precautions and get yourself and your partner tested before you have any kind of sex. STD’s are treatable but only a few a curable.

Since your comment was like 3 months ago, I hope you did get tested, or got more information on STD’s signs and symptoms. Even if you don’t have an std, you could still give someone else an std. Cold sores have potential to cause herpes, with or without an outbreak. Best bet would be to get tested and always use protection.
