What Causes Genital Herpes?

This is a a sexually transmitted disease which is highly infectious and very embarrassing. Although Genital Herpes it takes about 4 weeks to clear, it could recur again in future.It is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and 2. Virus type 2 is the one that causes it mostly though. This virus enters the body through the mucous membrane or small breaks on your skin. The virus lies dormant in the nerve cell. You may actually live with the virus in your body for a long time without knowing that you carry it.What triggers this Virus?The Genital Herpes virus could be triggered by stress. menstruation in women, fatigue, fever to mention but a few.Genital Herpes is highly contagious and it is advisable for you to abstain from sex if you have the symptoms or have the sores. Though the use of latex condoms for men and polyurethane condoms for women could lower the risk of getting infected, the sores could be on the genital area that is not covered by the condoms.For pregnant mothers, it is advisable to tell your doctor if you are suffering from or have the symptoms of genital herpes. If you have had this infection before and its just recurring, the chances of passing the virus to your unborn child through child birth are minimal. The doctor might opt to do a C-Section to safeguard the wellness of your baby. If infected, the baby might suffer from severe rashes, have eye problems, brain damage, may be born premature or even die.
