Can you get genital warts (HPV) by touching it with your hands?

April 14, 2009 by admin

This is a serious question. I've known I've had HPV (Genital Warts) for about 4 months and I've done alot of research and the only clear way of contracting it that I've found it throuhg "sexual contact". That helps me NONE. If I have them, and someone touches them with just their hands (not their gentitals) can they contract them? This is a serious question. I know I need to talk to my bf asap about it, I just don't know how to address it. We've been together for about a few months and I'm freaking out because we're trying our hardest to stay away from sex but I can't bring myself to tell him the reason I can't have sex with him. His reason is morals yet he knows I've had several partners. PLEASE, I need to know, I hope this hasn't affected him in any way. I could not stand myself if I gave a great guy this fuck-ass STD (as they say even though you don't have to have sex to get it)

:(
i understand that all warts are dif kinds of hpv. i have either 6, 8, or 11, i can't remember. mine doesn't cause cancer. i just want to make sure he's not at risk for Genital Warts. even though they are all the same, the name of is just sounds disgusting and i feel disgusting every time i think of myself having them.

Yes, whatever touches it when you are having an outbreak or "shedding" can spread… Make sure to clean hands and everything else asap!
