Genital warts & 24 weeks pregnant?

April 26, 2009 by admin

This is kind of embarrassing but I'm hoping someone else has been through this? 5 years ago I was raped and got HPV (Genital Warts) as a result. I have had normal pap test results which is good but I had a pretty bad outbreak of warts that required surgery to laser them off. I was clear for about a year and now I am 24 weeks pregnant and just noticed that I have 2 or 3 large warts again and am so worried that they will affect my unborn child. I have heard horror stories about the baby getting warts in their throat and other scary complications. Has anyone else had an active outbreak of Genital Warts and been able to give birth vaginally without having to have a C-section? Has anyone had an active outbreak and still given birth to a normal healthy baby?

Wow!! I am sorry to hear about your rape and getting the HPV. I had genital warts when I had my first son because my ex cheated on me and he was still having sex with me while I was pregnant. When I got those warts that was the worse experience that I ever had. I had to get them burned and I was very lucky that I was able to deliver vaginally. Try not to worry, you might not have to go through a c-section. I am fine now and I also have 4 more children HPV free. So try not to stress yourself because that could also cause a break out. Good Luck!!!
