How will HPV affect my relationship?

May 5, 2009 by admin

Me and my boyfriend have been together for months and have had unprotected sex (I'm on birth control!). I just found out that I have HPV Genital Warts and have started treatment. However, I'm not sure how this will affect my relationship. Me and my boyfriend are completely committed to each other and are in it for the long run, and obviously we can still have sex.
My doctor wasn't really clear on how this would affect sex, and I can't find many answers online… should we use condoms from now on? Or is it still not necessary because we both have the virus? Neither one of us is going to be sleeping with anyone else, but I can't find info on how HPV affects monogamous couples. Any info or advice would be very much appreciated.

If you both have the virus and totally trust each other, then don't worry about condoms, the damage is done. just keep steady with your BCP, and stay together to avoid spreading it to other people.
HPV doesn't effect monogamous couples, except help keep them together.
