HPV/genital wart questions?
April 24, 2009 by admin
Can the HPV strain that causes Genital Warts turn into the strain that causes cancer? For example if a man has warts and transmits them to the women can she develop cervical cancer? or are they two different strains? regards
There are over 100 strains of hpv. About 30 of those strains generally infect the genitalia. Of those 30, there are 2 strains that cause the majority of cervical cancer cases, and 2 more that cause 90% of hpv cases. The only protection available to women at this time is the hpv vaccine. one strain of the virus can not "morph" into another strain. They are what they are.
