HPV/Genital warts Question…?

April 16, 2009 by admin

So I guess that I have Genital Warts. I am a male. My doctor told me that it isnt permanent and that when i go to a dermatologist it is normally curable in 2 visits, sometimes 3 or 4 depending on how bad it is and in certain people.

I beleive that I got it from my current girlfriend. However im not positive she knows she has it. She told me doctors found cancer cells in her cervix. But i guess they havent mentioned HPV to her or anything like that. IS it curable in women?

And if I have it cured, can i just get it right back from her? I have also had oral sex with her… but i show no signs of it on my face or whatever. What is the deal with that, can i have it there and not know yet? I'am 18 and im very freaked out and worried by this… I dont know what to do and i dont have the money for all these treatments im going to have to charge them on a credit card. And how do I tell her? I need help/advice… im lost and kind of scared.
And when i ask if it is curable in men i dont mean just make it go away, i want it GONE?!

Sadly, viruses are not really curable. Because you have contracted this once, you are now suseptible to it in the future. But wait there is hope!! It all depends on your immune system. You and your girlfriend need to take care of yourselves once it does clear up. Eat healthy, take vitamins, try to lower stress levels, make sure to eat and drink foods rich with antioxidants, also exercise. All this can help prevent it from ever coming back. Also, make sure to follow up with your doctors. It is especially important for your GF to get routine pap smears to monitor the "cancer cells". HPV is a weird virus because it can be dormant for years and show no visible signs. You or her could have contracted it years ago and just now the signs are showing up. Your girlfriend is honestly in more of a predicament because if the cancer is not isolated and removed it can spread. It sucks but she might have to have surgery but it's a quick procedure and she should be able to go home the same day as the surgery. It requires about 1-3 weeks of healing time for everything to be "back to normal" down there.
This is not the end of the world for you guys!! Just take care of yourselves and make sure to follow doctors orders if you don't want this coming back. On another note can you talk to your parents about financial help or maybe your insurance can help cover some of the costs for your procedure. You can't put a price on your health. These things happen, best of luck.
Read up on WebMD about the virus as well. It should provide more info for you!
