Regarding HPV, Genital Warts, and Aldara 5% Cream…?

April 28, 2009 by admin

I was diagnosed with Genital Warts roughly 8 weeks ago(after I had my first outbreak), and was prescribed Aldara 5% cream to be applied 3 times a week at bedtime and wash off in the morning when i woke up.

I have a 12 pack, that should last 12 weeks. I have applied the cream for 7 weeks now and have still yet to see any wartz disappearing. Is this normal? If so, how long does it take to start working?

Also, I've noticed for the past 2 weeks a bit of a rash down there on both sides of my scrotum. Should I be worried? Or is this normal with the cream.

Please, some great feedback from a medical person would be great. I have been so stressed because of this lately.

Thank you

Aldara doesn't work for everyone. You may need to go back to your doctor and and get a different treatment. There are several different ways to get rid of genital warts – Aldara is only one of them.

I used Aldara to get rid of my genital warts about a year and 1/2 ago. It took at least 4 – 5 weeks before I noticed any changes. In total, it took about 5 – 6 weeks for my warts to completely go away.

I'd suggest you finish your 12 weeks worth and if it hasn't gone away by then, you might need to try something else. Good luck!
