Regarding HPV, Genital Warts, and Aldara 5% Cream…?

April 17, 2009 by admin

I was diagnosed with Genital Warts roughly 2 weeks ago, and was prescribed Aldara 5% cream to be applied 3 times a week at bedtime and wash off in the morning when i woke up.

I have a 12 pack, that should last 12 weeks. I have applied the cream 3 times so far, and recently noticed a few more bumps appearing.

Is this normal??? I remember the doctor telling me that a few more warts might pop up, but is this truly normal???

Please, some great feedback from a medical person would be great. I have been so stressed because of this lately.

Thank you

See…you answered your own question! You don't need a doc! Your last sentence says it all – "I have been so stressed because of this." It is well known that stress can precipitate or worsen an outbreak of genital warts. This is completely normal. Is this your first outbreak? Aldara works well…it can cause some discomfort (burning) and irritation – frankly, your sensitive skin may become a bit "raw" down there to put it bluntly (bear with it!)- however, if the warts disappear 100% with this treatment – you have a very good chance of going years without another outbreak or not having another outbreak at all! Aldara has great stats when it works completely. Now, you will never be free of the virus so always use a condom/dental dam. Remember, you can still pass the virus even if you can't see any warts.

So…you are normal – this is normal – try to keep yourself healthy physically and mentally to get over the hump of this outbreak!

    Hope this helps!
