Cures For Genital Warts

Safe sex doesn’t seem to mean what it used to. Responsible people all over the world are still susceptible to several STDs, which are just not covered by condoms. Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), also know as Genital Warts is one of those diseases and western medicine’s answer to this and most viruses is “get an inoculation” or… well, nothing. Since the HPV vaccine is quite new and only of use to people who have not been exposed, what about all the people who already have it, or despite their best efforts, get exposed to it in the future?

People who have met the wall that is western medicine have started to turn to alternative, or homeopathic methods of treatment in their search for cures for Genital Warts. The irony is that “New Age” or “Alternative” medicine is actually founded in much older knowledge than the modern drugs and medical procedures we are more familiar with. Although officially nobody can say there is a cure for the virus, there are actually several herbs that can aid you in pushing it out of your body.

One is called Curcumin and is available, in capsule form, at most natural food stores. An extract of the Tumeric Root, Curcumin is an antioxidant that acts against Human Papilloma Virus and protects the DNA of the cells in our bodies. There are even studies under way to test Curcumin’s effect on different forms of cervical cancer. Initial findings are promising and could lead to a wider acceptance of herbs as healing agents.

Another herb for use against HPV is called Calendula. Also available in natural food stores, Calendula can be taken orally or as a suppository. Calendula is more commonly known as the marigold flower and its oils target the actual warts caused by the virus.

Oregano Oil can be applied to the warts directly. Used like the topical cures for Genital Warts that are available through western doctors, but far less expensive, oregano oil is painted onto the wart. Dilute the oil first, because it will sting a bit otherwise.

There are several product lines of organic herbal extracts, which are useful not just in fighting genital warts, but are used for general health and any other ailment you can imagine. Other anti-virals that can be taken in this extract form include: St. John’s Wort, Lemon Balm, Lomatium Root and Echinacea Root. You can also make your own extract by buying or growing your own herbs. Some people, myself included, find this more hands on approach cathartic. Herbology is a lost and very useful art that everyone interested in their health should start investigating.

Any naturopathic doctor can give more detailed instructions using these treatments and can offer even more advice. Taking control of the virus and not accepting western medicine’s idea that what’s done is done is the first step. Next, the key is to boost your immune system, so that you can attack the virus, take control of your body and heal yourself.
