STD are becoming more and more common these days. Genital wart is another which you would find very common across the globe. Despite that there are not people who are educated about this STD and hence, there are so many myths around the same. It is believed that Genital Warts are only affecting women and not men. This is absolutely baseless. The Genital Warts in women could be more talked about than in the men but it is a myth that men are not prone to Genital Warts. It is the HPV infection that results in genital warts. The same is capable of infecting men and women both, thereby exposing them to genital warts.Another thing that has come up in regards to genital warts is that this could happen only if you have unprotected sex. This is another wrong notion. As the reason of the warts is the HPV infection which is sexually transmitted, and could be the result of unprotected sex. The genital warts in women and men could happen just through the skin contact. Hence, you might not copulate or be engaged in any kind of penetrative sex activity but you still can get affected. Condoms can prevent the spread of genital warts is a myth. The same could prevent the transmission of HPV but the genital wart is a viral, and it could spread just like that, with a mere skin contact as mentioned above. Hence, condoms can definitely not ensure that you are prevented against genital warts. If you don’t have genital warts it doesn’t mean that you can’t be infected by HPV as there are only some people who develop symptoms confirming the presence of HPV. For the others a regular medical check up would always help detection of HPV and other STD & other possible health ailments.
